1) Executive Director
National Association of Social Workers - Washington Chapter
The Washington Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), with a statewide membership of 2,000, is seeking a full-time Executive Director with demonstrated leadership and management skills. In addition, applicants should have a substantial knowledge of and a strong commitment to the social work profession and social work values, with an awareness of the diversity of social work practice.  Applicants should also be able to engage, inspire, and mobilize the Association’s membership.  NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with over 100,000 members nationwide. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies. The Chapter Executive Director reports to the NASW Deputy Director of Chapter Operations at the National Office and is accountable to the Washington Chapter Board of Directors.

Position requires:

  • Senior leadership experience working with professional or non-profit organizations and their volunteer Boards in a professional office environment

  • Minimum of 5 years of executive level experience

  • Four-year college degree required; MSW preferred; License preferred

  • Exceptional executive management skills, including the ability to provide oversight for organizational and leadership development priorities, and staff supervision

  • Demonstrated budget and financial management skills

  • Solid continuing education program planning and implementation skills

  • Strong public policy experience and skills

  • Strong advocacy and legislative experience and skills

  • Experience in membership services

  • Community organizing experience

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills

  • Experience working with traditional and social media in professional settings

  • Commitment to providing excellent membership support and engagement

  • Proficient with Office products software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as working in the online/“cloud” environment

 

The Chapter office is located in Seattle. This position requires travel as an essential function of the job. The role expects the executive director to provide their own means of transportations to attend meetings and activities throughout the state.

2) Executive Director
National Association of Social Workers - Rhode Island Chapter

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is seeking an Executive Director for the Rhode Island Chapter. Applicants will possess strong nonprofit association management skills, a substantial knowledge of the social work profession, and a strong commitment to social work values. Applicants will also have leadership skills that engage, inspire, and mobilize the Association’s membership. 

 

NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with over 100,000 members. The Rhode Island Chapter has 716 members statewide. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound and just social policies.

 

The position is for 25-30 hours per week with a competitive salary plus excellent benefits, including health and life insurance, and retirement. The Chapter Executive Director reports to the NASW Deputy Director of Chapter Operations at the National Office and is accountable to the Rhode Island Chapter Board of Directors. Travel across the state of Rhode Island is a required component of the position.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NASW member in good standing

  • Master’s degree required; MSW preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of senior management or administrative experience; nonprofit experience is plus

  • Leadership experience working and collaborating with professional or non-profit organizations and their volunteer Boards

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting organizational goals and timelines

  • Exceptional management and administrative skills with oversight of multiple programs

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills

  • Strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.

  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional Social Worker with MSW

  • Experience in membership recruiting, engagement, and support

  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including, funders, volunteers and partner organizations

  • Strong public speaking ability; Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and member

  • Demonstrated program development and implementation experience

  • Experience and skills in the areas of public policy, advocacy and the legislative process

  • Ability to manage administrative tasks in conjunction with the NASW National Office

  • Experience in fundraising

  • Experience working with social media

  • Proficiency with MS Office products software, including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint, as well as working in the online/“cloud” environment.
