Lauren Beasley, PhD, LMSW
Lauren Beasley is an assistant professor of sport administration and teaches graduate courses in cultural aspects of sport and mental health policy in sport. She has her master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at San Antonio and her master’s in sport psychology and motor behavior from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She completed her Ph.D. in sport management at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is also a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with experience in case management, individual, family and group therapy. Lauren's research lies at the intersection of social work in sport, with a recent focus on the social work profession in sport, mental health programming in sport organizations, and the physical and mental health literacy of collegiate athletes and has several interdisciplinary publications in both sport management and social work journals. Her dissertation focused on social work field education in sport organizations, and she is the co-chair of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports' (ASWIS) Field Task Force Committee, which recently released the Field Education Manual to promote placement opportunities in sport settings. Lauren lives in Atlanta with her husband, Andrew, and their dog, Posey, who loves taking walks at Piedmont Park.
Charlotte Warren, MSW, LCSW, CAADC
Charlotte Warren is a mental health clinician embedded with The University of Georgia Athletics Association. A founding member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sport and current Vice President elect, it was during her MSW education that her passion for working with the athletic population began. Her specialties include whole person identity, PTSD, substance use recovery, self-confidence and coping with injuries. She has published articles on how social workers can work with the athletic population, how athletes can transfer skills to the field of social work, and how mental health and performance professionals can help athletes to transition out of sports. She has presented various topics related to social work in sport, program development, and clinical interventions with athletes on local, conference, and national levels, and social media platforms. Charlotte is a former collegiate athlete, her husband Mark, a Veteran, also works in collegiate athletics, and they have twin boys Myles, and Ryker.
