NASWGA Chapter Clinical Supervision Certificate Program Registration Now Open!

Earn your NASWGA Clinical Supervision Certificate.  This training will -

n  Discuss issues related to the oversight of professional conduct and ethical practice.

n  Identify strategies to ensure competency-based clinical supervision.

n  Provide registrants with practical tools for increasing effectiveness in supervision.

n  Discuss the role of individual & group supervision.

n  Engage in dialogue with other supervisors regarding effect.


Participants in the Clinical Supervision Certificate Program will gain 20 Continuing Education Hours (5 of which are Ethic Hours), and an opportunity to network with other Clinical Supervisors. Topics include Competency-Based Monitoring and Mentoring of Social Work Practitioners: supervisory styles and techniques, skills to supervise the clinical supervisor at various stages of clinical development, managing challenging supervisees and situations. Other topics include diversity and cultural competency, an overview of rules that govern social work practice, ethical implications of supervision (NASW Code of Ethics/Professionalism), use of technology and ethical implications and the value of documentation.

At the closing of each day, registrants will take a test on the material presented. Registrants must pass each test with a grade of at least 85%. If a registrant does not pass a test, s/he will be given an opportunity to retake that test on the last date of the program – Sunday October 21, 2018. Certificates will be awarded to those who attend all 3 days of the program and have passed all tests. Additionally, those who gain the certificate will be allowed to post their name on the NASWGA Registry of Certificate - Clinical Supervisors.

Please note: The NASWGA Clinical Certificate is not a mandated requirement to perform clinical supervision in the state of Georgia. However, attendance and completion of the program demonstrates a mastery of materials covered along with an understanding of the significant role of the Clinical Social Work Supervisor. This program is recognized and approved by the NASWGA Chapter. While, the continuing education hours are accepted by the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapist.

*Required Criteria to Register for the NASWGA Certificate in Clinical Supervision Program:

▪  Be a LCSW or other recognized mental health professional and provide a valid license number
▪  Passed a diagnosis course taken while enrolled at a recognized an accredited masters level program or received a  psychopathology course certificate of completion from a provider recognized by the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapist
▪  Be in good standing with the licensure and certification board in your state
▪  Pass each of the 3 tests administered with a grade of at least 85%

▪ As stated, in order to receive a certificate, your license must be in good standing with your state’s licensure board. Once this has been determined you will receive an official confirmation of registration from NASWGA Chapter Staff. If there is a question about the status of your license, NASWGA Chapter Staff will contact you to let you know and you will receive an 80% refund (the refund is the registration fee - administration process fee). Consequently, NASWGA highly recommends that registrants verify their licensure status with their licensure boards prior to registering for the program.

▪All registrants are eligible for a certificate of program attendance and completion and 20 hours of instruction (5 being ethic hours).

Please Note: THE NASWGA Certificate in Clinical Supervision does not supersede the rules and regulations set forth by the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapist, nor any other professional certification and licensure board, surrounding the provision of clinical supervision to social workers or other mental health professionals or the state laws which govern the profession of social work or other mental health professions.

Cancellation Policy:
Written requests for refunds must be sent to Refunds will be issued no later than 45 days following receipt of request and will follow the schedule below:

1.     For cancellation request received before August 1, 2018: You will receive a 75% refund of your registration fee.

2.     For Cancellation requests received August 1 – September 15, 2018: You will receive a 50% refund of your registration fee.

3.     After September 15, 2018: NO refunds will be issued for any reason.

4.     NASWGA regrets that refunds will not be given for “no-shows.”
