Georgia Social Work Licensure Update

Board Rule 135-12 Testing and Assessments

Effective Date: September 21, 2017

Compliance Date: January 1, 2018

NOTE: Changes to the O.C.G.A. ยง 43-10A ("Scope of Practice") regulating the licensees of the GA Composite Licensure Board mandated the Board to develop this new rule, these new training requirements.

Please do not contact the Board requesting approval of prior training or coursework, or pre-approval of a training course pursuant to this rule. The Board does not approve nor pre-approve training courses. Do not submit transcripts, course descriptions etc. to the Board. You will be contacted by the Boards administrative staff should the Board require you to submit any verification of this training having been obtained.

The new rule {135-12-.02(2)} stipulates the acceptable coursework or training programs criteria. The Board suggests you contact the state associations listed in the rule for their assistance and the available approved training.

The required training pursuant to this rule is NOT a continuing education hours requirement for renewal. If you do obtain these hours you may use them for the September 2018 renewal of your license to satisfy the continuing education hours required for renewal of a license.

A list of FAQ's regarding this new rule has been developed by the Composite Board, and is posted on the Secretary of State web site at
