1.  Provide learners with a definition of rituals in general, and religious rituals.

2.  Present explanatory models or theories on the functions of religious rituals.

3.  Present research supporting explanatory models of religious rituals.

4.  Provide examples of religious rituals, their symbolic and psychological functions, and how they were integrated in the family’s coping strategies.
