Instructor: Sophia F. Dziegielewski, PhD, LCSW, Professor at the University of Central Florida, School of Social Work will teach the course. Dr. Dziegielewski has over 135 publications, including 8 textbooks and has conducted numerous workshops in the areas of health and mental health. To date, she has trained over 19,000 social workers with this licensure preparation course.

Facilitator Dawn Apgar’s Brief Bio.  
Dawn Apgar for nearly 20 years, Dawn Apgar, PhD, LSW, ACSW, has been helping social workers across the country pass the ASWB® examinations associated with all levels of licensure. In recent years, she has worked in numerous states to assist with establishing statewide licensure test preparation programs.  Dr. Apgar has done research on licensure funded by the American Foundation for Research and Consumer Education in Social Work Regulation and is currently chairperson of her state’s social work licensing board. She is a past President of the New Jersey Chapter of NASW and has been on its National Board of Directors. In 2014, the Chapter presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Apgar has taught in both undergraduate and graduate social work programs and has extensive direct practice, policy, and management experience in

East Region Update - *Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month


  • Meet and Greet with light refreshments
  • Plan and delegate NASW recruitment efforts for the East Region
  • Identify East Region speakers and complete the speak application for 2018
  • Discuss CE topics that would be helpful for presentation at our monthly meetings
  • Closing comments/suggestions
