Local Units
If you are a member of the Georgia Chapter, you are automatically enrolled as a member of a local Unit based on your geographic location. Several of the Units are very active with events and continuing education programs offered throughout the year. Involvement at the Unit level is an excellent way to "stay connected" and develop your professional network.

Augusta Unit
Counties include: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Johnson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, Wilkes
The Augusta Unit is a very active unit with ongoing continuing education events, annual events and political activism. The Unit sponsors continuing education events throughout the year as well as a legislative event in the fall, an annual conference in March and a spring social event. The Augusta Unit's bimonthly Connection Newsletter continues to keep members informed of what is happening in the Unit.

Central Georgia Unit
Counties include: Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Laurens, Macon, Monroe, Montgomery, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Telfair, Treulen, Twiggs, Wheeler, Wilcox, Wilkinson
The Central Unit holds monthly "Lunch & Learn" meetings on the third Friday of the month.

North Georgia Unit
Counties include: Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dade, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fannin, Floyd, Fulton, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Murray, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Rockdale, Spaulding, Walker, and Whitfield
The North Georgia Unit continues to provide events and activities to support its members. The yahoo email group has grown to over 150 members. It has become a well utilized method of unit communication that is easily accessed. Unit members use it to post job opportunities, get feedback from each other on areas of frustration or if they just need help with an issue, to announce training and CE events, to inform each other on local projects and community events and to ask for supervision. South Georgia Unit
Counties include: Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lowndes, Thomas, Tift, Turner, Worth
Social workers from these and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend unit meetings and events. The Unit sponsors an annual conference, as well as continuing education events throughout the year. The Unit offers good networking opportunities for social workers in south Georgia.
