Are students represented on the NASW-Georgia Board of Directors?
Yes they are! Every year, one BSW representative and one MSW representative are elected by the general membership to bring the views and interests of social work students to the Georgia Chapter Board of Directors. The student representatives for 2009-2010 are Emily Diehl, MSW Student at the University of Georgia and Caitlin Swanson, BSW Student at Georgia State College. They attend Board meetings throughout the year and help plan Student Lobby Day. They need to hear from you! They were elected to represent YOU and the things that are important to you...drop them a line if there's something on your mind.
Student Lobby Day 2010 Draws Record Crowd
On a cold, windy day in February, more than 500 students, faculty, and special guests gathered in Atlanta for NASW-GA's annual event designed to directly engage students in legislative advocacy. In addition to social work students from across the state, this year's program included students from Georgia Perimeter College, and student members of LPCA-GA and GMFTA. Thanks to all the students, faculty, speakers, and volunteers who made Student Lobby Day 2010 another great event!
